Rob Feather's creativity is like an itch he'll never finish scratching. Still, he tries his hardest by modulating saw waves, sampling computer data, recording birds singing, rummaging through sample libraries and carefully manipulating his singing to sound exactly how he wants. Inspired by eurodance, pop, IDM, alt-rock, ambient and electro house, Rob Feather creates music that is colorful, intriguing, meaningful, nostalgic yet futuristic, brain-scratching and bright. By exploring all kinds of sound design techniques but sticking to pop arrangements, his music has been described as being both accessible and experimental, though he's searching the limits. Being very interested in electronic music from a young age, Rob Feather started making his own at age 10 and went through all kinds of subgenres to find himself, but his newfound motivation for boundary-breaking music came from feeling dissociative from the EDM he had been making in the past. Those roots still linger in his newer productions alongside his lyrical songwriting and unique sound design. Rob Feather is always eager to reinvent himself, but most of all, Rob Feather endures.

Biography

Rob Feather's interest in music began from a young age, since the radio in the living room would always be turned on. Because of this, he got a lot of 2000's eurodance and pop implanted in his brain, which is still an inspiration to him to this day. Later, the young Rob Feather would look for music himself through early YouTube, where he discovered electronic remixes of the pop songs he had heard on the radio. With this a world of electro house and dubstep opened for him, and Rob Feather started to wonder how electronic music was made. At the age of 10, he had found out about the digital audio workstation FL Studio from a Skrillex remake on YouTube, and immediately downloaded the demo version to make his own music. Since Rob Feather hasn't had any classical music training and didn't play any instruments at the time, nice melodies and harmonies were hard to find in his early work, but after a while he learnt music theory and was able to create good sounding music.

Deciding to take his music career seriously at 14 years old, he picked up the moniker 'Rob Feather' as an English translation on his legal name. Around this time Rob Feather was creating future house music inspired by Oliver Heldens and Tchami, of which the inspiration is still to be heard in his current work. Though at the time the genre was losing popularity, Rob Feather continued to create music he himself found interesting, also trying out different sounds and styles. Some of the works from 2017 to 2020 can still be found on certain channels on YouTube, although consistency may be hard to find. In 2020, Rob Feather released the single 'My Mind' onto streaming, before taking a two year break from releasing music to find a better, more consistent style of music and to find a greater reason to keep going.

During this break, Rob Feather would lose interest in producing club-friendly dance music and begin to get more into songwriting, wanting to create lyrical music that resonated with him and recording demos featuring his own vocals. Because it was outside of his comfort-zone and he didn't see his naturally low voice fit for his music, Rob Feather would manipulate his voice with effects, shifting the pitch and formant up. This gives Rob Feather's vocal performances it's signature quality. With a newfound style, Rob Feather would begin releasing music again in 2022 with the singles 'Feel like I'm Enough' and 'Breathe', gaining popularity on TikTok and generating thousands of streams and new fans. Rob Feather's 10-track debut album 'Nest' featuring the 2022 and 2023 singles was released on 29 September 2023, and he's currently focusing on his solo live show to perform the songs.
