this is a text file. it is displayed as is below:
hello
as some of you have noticed i have recently made some changes
to the availability of my music:
-> my music is no longer available on spotify, in all regions
if i can explain my motive in a single sentence, it would be
this: i find it incredibly disheartening and repugnant that
one of the most commonly used music listening services uses
its profits not to support the artists that made its business
successful in the first place, but to invest in war drones,
generative ai, right-wing conspiracy podcasters, and the idea
that music is a stream of background noise to be passively
listened to rather than a sentimental art form.
i’ve had a hard time making the decision to boycott spotify
because i know most of my listeners discover and listen to my
music on spotify, but as time moved on and more and more
unfavorable news broke out about how spotify does its
business it really started to outweigh what i actually got
back from it. this just isn’t about me and my position in the
music industry, this is about knowing what’s right and
ethical and standing up against what isn’t. there’s more than
enough resources for people to continue to listen to my
music, this small inconvenience shouldn’t shoo off anyone
that cared about my music.
-> my music is no longer available on all streaming services
for users in israel
on the topic of knowing what’s right and ethical and standing
up against what isn’t, i’m sure you’re aware of the
absolutely fucking horrific and utterly sickening genocide
of the people in palestine that the israeli government has
been perpetuating. to consolidate it all into this short
length of text would be a massive injustice to the shear
amount of suffering and death the palestinian people have
been going through.
with this i am also participating in a cultural boycott of
israel, and joining over 1000+ other artists and labels who
have done the same. i’d like to thank no music for genocide,
a volunteer-run initiative motivating the music industry to
participate in this boycott. i have also signed my name with
them.
thanks for reading through this and i hope you understand.
to compensate for the unavailability on spotify i’ve made the
'nest' album a free download (pay what you want) on bandcamp.
free palestine. trans rights are human rights. fuck big tech
and fuck gen-ai.
